CRONE: middle sized, perhaps beyond middle aged, apparently wearing all of the clothing she
owns.

OFFICER: Young, pleasant looking, idealistic and in uniform, a police uniform.

Passersby: people

setting

A street, Crone considers the area around the City Hall her domain.

At rise: Crone notices that some of the people seem to be in a group. Curious, she moves in their direction, as a hostess might to invite visitors to her home. She peers curiously at the
approaching individuals and could be considering the street value of whatever items they carry on them, the price of their clothing. Searching in her pocket for a moment, she
retrieves a piece of paper, and crosses to the person closest to her, handing it to them.  She steps back a pace until the person has time to read the paper.

OFFICER enters- -(From City Hall or a store.)- -as CRONE puts her arms out- -OFFICER is trying not to cause undo tension, while keeping an eye on the
"situation." CRONE is instantly aware of, but ignores OFFICER. If the person's hug comes quickly, she says thank you and, retrieving another
coupon from her packet, hands it to another person. If the person is uncomfortable, she nods and steps away. In any case she gives the person the piece of paper.

Crone: That's okay, my darlin' keep it. There must be someone you would like to hand it to.

(Crone moves on, handing her coupons to whoever is nearest at any time. OFFICER really tries to be unobtrusive, politely nodding and smiling to people as he slowly trails her. Finally, she turns to smile at OFFICER, perhaps with a seemingly acquiescent nod.)

CRONE: I know. I know. You want one, too! (Hands OFFICER a coupon.)

OFFICER (Reading.): Good for one free hug. (With a laugh?) All right, come on, then.

(OFFICER and CRONE hug.)
